Gemini, Gems and Nano Banana in One Evening

AI Sharing #13 ran on 6 September 2025, and the subject was Gemini.

Two things carried the hour. The first was Nano Banana, Google’s image model, which turned out to be the demonstration people reacted to most. Generating an image from a description is impressive the first time. Editing a photo you already have by describing the change in plain words is the one that makes people reach for their own files.

The second was Gems: small custom assistants you set up once for a job you repeat. They are Gemini’s answer to Custom GPTs, and the appeal is the same. Configure it properly on Monday and stop re-explaining yourself every day after.

What makes these sharing sessions work is that nobody is selling a tool. Half the room already used ChatGPT daily, so the useful question was not whether Gemini is good, but what it does that their existing tool does not. Nano Banana was the honest answer.
