A GPT That Tells Jokes

We built a GPT whose only job is to be funny. It is as silly as it sounds, and it turned out to be one of the better teaching exercises we have run.

Humour is unforgiving. A slightly-off answer to a factual question still passes. A slightly-off joke dies in front of you, immediately and without argument. So you learn very fast how much the instructions matter, how much the examples matter, and how a single word like “dry” or “gentle” changes everything downstream.

There is a practical use too. Learning is easier when it is not a slog, and a study guide that makes someone snort is a study guide they finish. Serious material benefits most, because the humour is what keeps a person in the room long enough to understand it.

Anyone can build one in an evening. Give it a name, tell it what kind of funny you want, feed it five jokes you actually like, then spend a while telling it which attempts missed.

That last part, the correcting, is the real skill, and it is where the AI Innovator Program spends its time.
