AI Mamak: Five AI Dishes in 90 Minutes
AI Sharing #23 was our introductory session to the AI Innovator Program, open to new participants and guests alike. To make it fun, we opened an imaginary 24-hour mamak shop in Kuala Lumpur, Restoran Selera Bestari, and served five AI dishes from it in 90 minutes on Zoom. Guests got the link by sending TAPAU on WhatsApp, and an AI agent replied with it.
Each dish stood for one of the five modules in the program, so by the end everyone had tasted what the coming weeks would teach.
The Five Dishes
Roti Canai prompting. One short prompt gave us a plain menu. A prompt with a role, the context, the task and the format gave us a full menu, written in Manglish with prices.
Kopitiam podcast. We uploaded that menu to NotebookLM and got a short podcast about it in Bahasa Malaysia. Then we asked what you could eat for RM5. It found roti canai and tosai.
AI Kakak. Most people in the room use ChatGPT, so we used it to save a ChatGPT skill that writes a cheerful Manglish post for any dish. After the first post, one short line was enough for the next one.
Teh Tarik chatbot. In Jotform we made an AI agent with a generated face, trained it on the menu, and asked what we could eat with RM12, then RM20. It talked back with set meals like nasi lemak ayam and teh tarik.
App Tapau. In Google AI Studio we described an ordering system in a few sentences. Within minutes the waiter could take an order by table, the kitchen could mark it done, and each table had its own bill. A system like that used to cost five figures or more.
Classes start on 8 October, led by Li Hong, and you have two months to finish your own project. Upcoming free sessions are listed on the events page.
